Fred Buckman, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Buckman is a Sr. Executive with extensive experience in electric and gas utility operation and management, as well as engineering and construction management, project development, company startup and private equity. Fred has successfully managed a startup company to a liquidity event and has run both small and large companies. He has sustained a track record of making money for shareholders while delivering high value to customers and clients. Fred is currently Executive Chairman of SPG Solar, an integrator of solar technology for commercial and industrial applications, and has held various other Board positions since the mid 1990’s. Fred has a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from the University of Michigan, a PhD in Nuclear Engineering with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Scott Mackin
Mr. Mackin is a partner at Denham Capital, and brings 22 years of experience to the firm. In addition to his responsibility for origination, analysis, structuring, and execution of investments in the Power & Carbon Group, Scott is a member of the Management Committee, Investment Committee, and Valuation Committee, and is responsible for the firm’s office in Short Hills, New Jersey. Prior to joining Denham Capital, Scott was the President and CEO of Waypoint Energy. Previously, he held positions as Managing Partner at The Chatham Group, President and CEO of Covanta Energy Corporation, President of Ogden Energy, and General Counsel at Ogden Projects. Scott volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Counsel for Adoption. Scott received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Villanova University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
Linda Miller
Linda Miller remains Chairwoman of the Finance Committee, and oversaw the successful closing of Gradient’s January 2010 $108 million equity funding. She currently works for a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company overseeing the financing process on a team developing a portfolio of coal- and petroleum coke-fired gasification-related projects in the Midwest and Gulf Coast. Ms. Miller also worked for TECO Energy for 22 years, with her last position Senior Vice President Finance for TECO’s independent power subsidiary. Her subsidiary and corporate positions over the years included responsibility for capital raising, accounting, investor relations and funded benefits plans. While there, she oversaw the issuance of billions of dollars of innovative project, corporate and tax-oriented financings. She won several industry awards for project finance “deals of the year”. She also worked for three years for the Department of the Army in Stuttgart, Germany. In addition to her role as Chairwoman of the Finance Committee, Ms. Miller sits on the Audit and Indemnification Committees.
Bob Warburton
Mr. Warburton is a Director of Denham Capital, responsible for technical and operational support of investment evaluation and oversight of the Power & Carbon Group investments. He brings 30 years of experience to the firm. Prior to joining Denham Capital, Bob’s career has included positions as Vice President of Operations for InterGen, Senior Vice President of Operations for Waypoint Energy, General Manager of Ocean State Power for J. Makowski Co., and Field Engineer at Babcock & Wilcox. Bob received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. He has been a Registered Professional Engineer since 1984. Mr. Warburton previously held the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer of Gradient Resources from October, 2008 until early May 2010.
